About Tinsdale

We opened the lab we
couldn’t find ourselves.

Tinsdale began with one frustration: results that show up as numbers, with nobody around to explain them. So we built the alternative.

Our story

Eight years of printouts, and nobody to read them.

Our founder, an endocrinologist, watched patients spend years chasing an explanation for the same symptoms. Each year brought another panel, another printout and another visit too short to make sense of it.

Running the tests was never the hard part. Reading them was. So in 2018 we opened Tinsdale in Back Bay on the opposite idea: run the markers that change a decision, have a physician read them against optimal ranges, and answer in plain English.

Eight years later, that is still the whole company: three labs and a network around them, doctors who explain things, and software that keeps the plan going between visits.

What we stick to

Three rules we haven’t bent once.

Only test what changes a decision

Longer panels are easy to sell and seldom useful. We run the markers that would change what you do next, and tell you when one wouldn’t.

Explain it in plain English

Each report is written so you understand it on the first read. No wall of reference ranges, no jargon that needs another appointment.

Tell you when you don’t need us

If your numbers look good, we say so and send you on your way. Retesting healthy people every quarter is a sales tactic, not medicine.

Inside Tinsdale

This is what lab testing feels like when someone is paying attention

No line out the door at 7am, no printout you can’t follow. A calm draw, a physician who reads it properly, and a plan that fits your life.

Still have questions?

Our Boston care team answers messages within a few hours.

How is Tinsdale different from my yearly physical?

A routine physical looks at about 20 markers. Tinsdale runs 150+ biomarkers, and a licensed physician goes through every result with you and turns it into a clear, personal plan.

Do I need to fast before my blood test?

For most panels, yes: nothing but water for 8–10 hours first. Water actually makes the draw easier. Your exact prep notes arrive with your booking.

How soon will I get my results?

Most results are back within 48 hours of your sample reaching the lab, and we notify you as soon as your physician-signed report is ready.

Can I collect my sample at home?

Yes. Book a home visit anywhere inside I-495 and a certified phlebotomist comes to you, or walk in at one of our three labs.

Is my health data private and secure?

Yes. Your data is encrypted, kept on HIPAA-compliant systems and never sold, and you choose who gets to see your results.

Does insurance cover Tinsdale?

Tinsdale is direct-pay with prices posted up front. Many members pay with HSA or FSA funds, and we send an itemized receipt for reimbursement.
